Has ClickUp become too complicated for you? Do you feel like you’re paying too much for using less than a half of its features?
If so, maybe it’s time to switch to a simpler and budget-friendly, but equally reliable ClickUp alternative — Plaky.
In our step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to transfer your ClickUp data to Plaky without a hitch.
So, keep reading!

#1 Prepare your ClickUp data for export
ClickUp lets you export your data in 2 different ways:
- Free Forever plan users (workspace owners or admins) can only export their entire workspace data.
- Business and Enterprise plan users (members, admins, and owners) can export entire workspace data, as well as List and Table view boards.

Export your entire workspace data
To start exporting your ClickUp workspace data, follow the steps below:
- Click on your workspace avatar in the top-left corner and select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Choose the Imports/Exports option.
- Click on the Export Instead button.
- Click on the Start Export button.
Once your export is ready, you’ll be able to download it.

Export a List or Table view board
If you want to export any List or Table view, there’s a slight difference in the steps you need to take:
- Navigate to the List or Table view containing the tasks you want to export. (To include subtasks in your export, choose the Subtask option in the upper-right corner of your chosen view and select Separate (for List view) or Shown (for Table view)).
- Click the Customize option found in the same row where your views are, just slightly to the right.
- Choose Export view from the dropdown menu.
- From a new menu, choose what to export, as well as the file, date, and time format. Make sure your chosen file format is CSV.
- Click Download.
Note: The CSV file will be downloaded to your computer, and you’ll also receive an email with a link to your exported file. Keep in mind that the download link sent to your email expires after 1 hour.

#2 Import the CSV file into Plaky
Ready to transfer board data into Plaky?
When importing your CSV file, you must first decide whether you want to create a new board for your ClickUp data or import the data into an existing one.
Import into a new board
Here’s how to create a new Plaky board for your ClickUp data from scratch:
- Go to Plaky’s sidebar and click on the + button found next to the Search box.
- Select New Board from the dropdown menu.
- Click Create from file.
- Select the CSV file you want to upload.
- Click on Proceed.

Import into an existing board
Here’s how to import data from ClickUp into an existing board in Plaky:
- Navigate to the 3 dots in the upper-right corner of your board to open the Board menu.
- Select Import from CSV from the dropdown menu.
- Choose the CSV file you want to upload.
- Click on Proceed.

In case you have a huge amount of data to transfer, it’s best to break down large projects into smaller ones and import them as several CSV files. Also, please note that:
- You can import a maximum of 20 item groups. If you have more groups, they will be mapped to the last item group on the board.
- The CSV file you want to import can have up to 18 values for the Status field. In case you have more values, they will be skipped during the import.
#3 Generate the table
Once you’ve imported the file, Plaky will generate a table where you’ll see the contents of your CSV file. Make sure all information is there before you move on.

Note: When importing your entire workspace, you’ll get one CSV file containing all your tasks. On the other hand, when importing a Table or List view board, the CSV file will contain only the items found within the exported board.
At this stage of the importing process, you can:
- Choose the delimiter — Plaky uses a comma as the default delimiter, but you can set it to pipe, space, tab, or semicolon as well.
- Mark if your file has headers — If you enable this option, the first row will be taken as the field name.
- Set up the file column that will define the item name — The first column from the CSV file is taken for the item name by default.
Once done, click the Proceed button in the bottom-right corner.

#4 Map the board data
Now that your table is properly generated, you can start mapping your board. Here, you need to select the destination group for your CSV data:
- New group (enter the desired name for the group), or
- CSV column for group names.
Note: These 2 options are available when mapping data to transfer it to a new board in Plaky. In case you want to move data to an existing Plaky board, you will get an additional option to select an Existing group as your destination group.

The next step is to assign one of Plaky’s field types to the corresponding CSV column. If the Plaky and ClickUp field types match, Plaky will assign a field type on its own — but check anyway.
It’s important to know that you can:
- Stick to the existing field,
- Create a new one by choosing it from the dropdown menu (text, number, link, etc), or
- Choose None (if you don’t want to transfer data from a particular field).

Any unmapped CSV column will be lost, i.e., it won’t be transferred to Plaky. Also, you should map all those CSV columns that contain letters or numbers as a Text field so that Plaky can import them adequately.
The preview of your future Plaky board on the right should help you check if everything has been mapped correctly.

#5 Finalize the import
Once everything is set up, all that’s left to complete the data import is to click on the Finish import button.
You will see your data clearly organized in Plaky in the blink of an eye.

What’s great is that Plaky is highly customizable, so you can re-organize the board the way it suits you and your team.
Make sure to take advantage of Plaky’s bulk actions (available on paid tiers) to edit, duplicate, or move multiple items at once. This comes in quite handy, especially when transferring your entire workspace from ClickUp.
And, that’s it — mission accomplished! After only 5 simple steps, you have your ClickUp data ready for use in Plaky.
