It had been either 4.1% or 4.2% for 8 months prior to that. In comparison, the unemployment rate in August 2022 was 3.7%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>The number of unemployed<\/strong> reached 6.8 million in January 2025, whereas in August 2022, it was 6 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">That said, the number of job openings has gone down, according to the latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/jolts.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Job Openings and Labor Turnover<\/em><\/a> report:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>The job openings rate<\/strong> was at 4.5% at the end of December, with 7.6 million job openings available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>The number of job openings<\/strong> was down by 833,000 over the last year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>The new hires rate<\/strong> was 3.4% in December 2024. As a result, 53% of all surveyed organizations revealed they would make sure remote work was permanently available for their whole staff by the year 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">However, JLL\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jll.com\/en-us\/insights\/future-of-work-survey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Future of Work Survey 2024<\/em><\/a> shows that lately, the tables have turned in favor of office-based work. Namely, 44% of organizations surveyed have become \u201coffice advocates\u201d, meaning they would like their employees to fully return to offices. Interestingly, only 41% of hybrid and remote employees agree with them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"have-hybrid-and-remote-work-affected-employee-productivity\" class=\"wp-block-heading translation-block\">Have hybrid and remote work affected employee productivity?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">According to Owl Labs\u2019 <em>State of Hybrid Work 2023, <\/em><strong>79% of managers believe that hybrid and remote work either didn\u2019t affect employees\u2019 productivity or has even made them more productive<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">59% of them think that hybrid and remote work has made their team more productive. The situation is even more dramatic in the US, where 79% of managers agree with this statement, followed by slightly fewer managers (63%) in the Nordics, and in the Netherlands (62%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">20% of managers saw no change in productivity with their remote or hybrid teams.
