These fields can then be rearranged, sorted by each of these criteria, or summarized in the <a href=\"https:\/\/plaky.com\/features\/summary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summary row<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"custom-btn wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/app.plaky.com\/signup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Use Plaky to prioritize projects<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every organization is free to come up with its own scoring criteria for the following 4 factors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following examples will utilize the original scoring system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"reach\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reach is a quantitative metric used to <strong>estimate the number of people an initiative will impact within a specific timeframe<\/strong>, such as calculating the number of active users expected to interact with a new feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It helps product managers identify initiatives that have the biggest potential to resolve customer problems, concerns, or needs, and thus, have a wider reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To calculate reach, you must first decide the context of the \u201creach\u201d and the time period you want to consider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, let\u2019s say that Reach refers to the number of people who\u2019ll use a feature in the next month. This new feature will be delivered to 6,000 monthly active users, but you estimate it\u2019ll be used by 40% of them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, your Reach score is 40% x 6,000 = 2,400 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The higher the Reach, the better the potential impact of your project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"impact\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impact is a qualitative scoring factor used to <strong>measure the expected effect of an initiative on a specific business goal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance, if you\u2019re looking to sell a new product feature to as many customers as possible, the feature that boosts the conversion rate should be prioritized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or if your goal as a company is to increase customer delight, then you\u2019ll prioritize features that improve customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since it\u2019s difficult to measure, the RICE framework prescribes a simple scoring system for determining an idea\u2019s impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Massive impact \u2014 3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High impact \u2014 2<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medium impact \u2014 1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low impact \u2014 0.5<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimal impact \u2014 0.25<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"confidence\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Confidence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confidence is a score that <strong>shows how sure you are about the other 3 factors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It serves to curb your enthusiasm regarding projects that seem great but their Reach, Impact, or Effort scores aren\u2019t exactly backed by reliable data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Essentially, if you\u2019ve had to rely on your gut feeling or anecdotal evidence to determine some of the other factors, the Confidence score should reassure you and give you more control over the prioritization process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In RICE analysis, confidence is expressed as a percentage. However, you can also express it as person-hours, person-weeks, person-Sprints, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, an idea might require a 5-person team working full-time to complete it in a month, so the Effort score would be 5 person-months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, you may have 2 people working on the project for 3 months. In that case, the Effort score is 2 x 3 = 6 person-months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use whole numbers for Effort estimates.
